The natural and cultural landscape of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park is multifaceted, with its extensive woodlands, species-rich meadows, hedges and meadows in the open countryside, the river and stream valleys, hillside bogs and characteristic rock formations. Numerous plants and animals find their habitat here. From the hills of the Hunsrück to the sunny vineyards on the Moselle, Saar, Ruwer and Nahe rivers.
One focus of the Nature Park's work is the development and implementation of funded projects for nature and landscape conservation, sustainable regional development and the use of renewable energies.
The natural treasures and special features of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park are wonderful for hiking. The approximately 218 kilometre long Saar-Hunsrück-Steig leads from Idar-Oberstein on the Nahe to Perl or Trier on the Moselle.
