Felsenkirche - Church in the Rock
The Church in the Rock in Idar-Oberstein is the town's landmark. The history of the church goes back centuries and, according to legend, is based on the murder of a brother.
Bridge Houses
The Bridge Houses of Bad Kreuznach make the Old Nahe Bridge in the Saline City a very special eye-catcher. Their history dates back to the 15th century.
Rotenfels
At 202 metres, the Rotenfels is the highest steep face between the Alps and Scandinavia. No other elevation characterises the region like the Rotenfels.
Monastery Church Sponheim
The Monastery Church in Sponheim is located directly on the Hildegard von Bingen Pilgrimage Trail. The church towers high above the wine village and is always worth a visit.
Bingen Mouse Tower
The Bingen Mouse Tower is located in the middle of a small island in the Rhine near Bingen, where the Nahe flows into the Rhine. It owes its name to the legend on which the tower is based. The park at the Mouse Tower is a wonderful place for a family outing.
Rock Hermitage
The Rock Hermitage in Bretzenheim is a monument from pre-Christian times carved by hand into the sandstone and the only rock monastery north of the Alps. It is located right along the Vitaltour Eremitenpfad (Hermit's Path). At present, it cannot be visited from the inside due to the danger of collapse.
Historic Herrstein
The medieval town of Herrstein transports every visitor back in time about 300 to 500 years. One half-timbered house after the other, no two are alike. Around every corner, there is something new to discover. The clock tower, the castle, the church, the town wall with moat, the bell tower, the Schinderhannes tower, the battlements and much more are all part of your discovery voyage.
